— “Bart, talk to me about love please.”
She giggled at my confused look.
— “Oh, I don’t mean romantic love. Of course not. That other kind of love. You know.”
— “You mean universal love?”
— “Not sure if I like the hippy-ish taste of that word. I mean the love I feel flowing through me during these sessions with you.
“It feels so right, so pure and so profound. And it makes me feel absolutely wonderful. As if everything is okay and good.
“As if I am okay and good.
“Come to think of it, I’m not even sure I can call it love. That’s how powerful it is.”
— “Yep, it’s love alright. The Love of the Universe in fact.”
— “You keep saying that. But what does it mean?”
— “The way I see it, there are two sides to this. Probably a lot more, but let’s just focus on these two now.
“First of all, it’s the infinite and unconditional love that the Creator feels for Its children. The love of all mothers on Earth combined doesn’t even come close to the true Love the Universe feels for us.”
— “Okay, I think I get that. What’s the second bit?”
— “You said you weren’t sure you could call it love, right?”
— “Well, you just might be right.”
We both laughed at the poor range of our vocabulary.
— “What I mean is words like Love and Joy are simply too limited to accurately describe what this feeling is really about.
“The Universe is Love. Your natural state of being is Joy.
“When you plug into that during a meditation, a healing session or whenever, the sensations that you’re feeling are merely a physical manifestation of the Joy and the Love that make up the essence of all existence.”
— “That’s what Philip was talking about in your interview as well!”
“The feeling you’re experiencing is an echo of your true self. It’s who you really are. Without the worries, the fears and the stress of daily life.
“It’s as if your true self is shining through the cracks in the personality that’s been built up around it over many years, like a hard shell.”
— “Have you ever considered taking up poetry, Bart?
“Seriously though, I think I understand all that. But my biggest question now is: how do I get more of that feeling?”
— “There’s no big secret to it. In fact, I’ll give you 7 easy ways to let this Universal Love flow in your life on a daily basis!”
— “Awesome. Shall I take notes?”
— “No need. I’ll write a blog post about it too.”
— “Cool. Go ahead.”
Smile often. All throughout the day. For no particular reason whatsoever. Just for the fun of it.
Wear a smile like it’s part of your wardrobe. When you put on your clothes in the morning, put on a nice and genuine smile as well.
When you do it properly, smiling engages muscles all over your face. This sends a signal to your brain and triggers all sorts of happy hormones. That’s the other way around of how it usually happens, but it works.
Before you know it, you’ll be feeling loved and loving just by smiling.
2) Be grateful
Gratitude is a real game changer. It’s deceptively simple, yet powerful beyond imagination.
Feeling grateful creates a strong undercurrent in your life. Universal love will flow with it, like the world’s best surfer would ride an infinite wave. Without ever falling off her surfboard.
You can be grateful for anything. Not just the major, obvious things. Because then your reasons for feeling thankful might seem few and far between.
Start off with the small stuff. The things most people don’t even notice anymore. Like that nice cup of tea or coffee you had in the morning. A beautiful rainbow in the sky after a 3-hour rain shower you thought would never stop.
With some practice you’ll be seeing reasons and opportunities to be grateful everywhere.
3) Hugs and cuddles
A kind and gentle hug works in much the same way as smiling. The warm physical touch sets off all sorts of party signals in your body.
Giving — and receiving — hugs and cuddles also creates a sense of connection. And that’s what the feeling of universal love is all about. Remembering that you’re not some isolated chunk of matter, completely separated from the rest of reality. On the contrary, you feel intimately connected to a greater whole.
A simple gesture like a hug is a very good step towards experiencing this Oneness.
You can hug yourself, friends, or even trees. Ever hugged a tree? Try it! You’d be amazed how soft a tree can feel.
A word of caution though. As you would with humans, be careful which tree you hug. And when. Some trees can be downright grumpy. So make sure you get the tree’s permission to hug.
Make your life more colourful – literally. Pay close attention to the colours around you, and invite pretty colours into your life.
You can do this through the clothes and accessories you wear, or with decoration and useful things in your home and your workplace.
Or get a box of crayons and draw! Paint. It doesn’t even have to represent anything. Simply draw some coloured lines.
Why? Light is a form of energy and it contains all colours. So each colour is a different flavour of energy, with its very own vibration and qualities.
You can use colours to your benefit, influencing your mood and making you more receptive to the flow of universal love.
We live in a very loud world, filled with sounds and music. All screaming for your attention.
Silence has become a rare and precious luxury. And not only in the outside world.
Because even when you manage to have some peace and quiet around you, what do you hear? The constant chatter of thoughts and voices in your head! They call it the monkey mind and it simply never keeps it big mouth shut.
And yet, if you want to connect with universal love you need that inner silence.
Fighting your busy mind won’t help though. On the contrary, it will only grow stronger and louder because of the attention you give it.
You’ll have better luck in creating some much needed silence with the next two tips.
6) Get physical
Move. And I don’t just mean wave your arms around a bit. I’m talking about serious physical exercise. Run, swim, cycle, or go whack a small rubber ball against a wall repeatedly.
It doesn’t even have to be something sporty. You can just as well stock up on a year’s worth of firewood, or dig up your garden. Anything to get your blood pumping.
Because sometimes it takes a physical flow like that to get the spiritual flow of universal love going.
By fully engaging yourself physically you lure your attention away from your mind. You’ll have no other option than to focus on your body, temporarily breaking the spell of your monkey mind over your awareness.
And that’s the point where the silence we talked about previously can take hold.
The fact that physical exercise is just plain healthy is a nice added bonus.
Breathing is arguably the most underrated and unknown spiritual tool of all times.
Just like smiling and showing gratitude it’s very simple. Because hey, you know how to breathe, right?
How can something that simple be so effective?
Again, it all comes down to tricking your mind into giving up its total control over you. By giving it something to do, the chattering mind releases its stifling grip.
While it’s occupied focussing on every sensation of your breathing, it forgets to voice its usual opinions. Your mind won’t have the time to try and run the show.
The result? Silence, peace and quiet inside. Exactly the fertile soil universal love needs to take root and flourish.
Now go and let love flow
Universal love can be a powerful force of good in your life too.
It can instantly lift your spirits when times are bad.

Try the 7 easy ways you just read. Then universal love will flow in your life.
